Replacing the Cloth on Your Pool Table
Each time you set the cue ball into motion on your table, it causes friction between the cloth and the ball. Over time you will see white friction burns appear on the cloth. Eventually the fibers of the cloth will wear through and cause small holes in the cloth.
Some players will complain that the cue ball will not draw back like it used to or the cue ball does not take English. That is because as the cloth wears, the cloth loses its ability to grip the ball and make it spin the way you intend it to spin.
Once the cloth is removed from your table, your technician will be able to….
- Inspect the rubber cushions for rebound and adherence.
- Check the level of both the frame and slates and advise the customer of any problems that may exist.
- Seal the slate joints and screw holes as needed with beeswax* (*do not accept any other material)
- Tighten loose bolts and screws
- Inspect the pockets or ball return system for repairs or replacement
- Inspect pocket blocks (on antique pool tables) and slate frames for repair or replacement
- Align your rails to the slate
